Bubba Bear!

Our class had so much fun working on our Bubba bear puppets this week. We've been working so hard on being good friends to one another. We read Bear's New Friend by Karma Wilson. We talked about how exciting it is to make new friends, but how scary it can be too.

Later in the week we read Bear Wants More, also by Karma Wilson (you can find them at our local library) or at Barnes & Nobles. After reading both books we finished up our Bubba Bear puppets. We continue to practice our "in" sentences. This week we worked on putting things in Bear's mouth! Boy does Bear have a big mouth! His belly must be pretty big too if it can fit all these goodies!

This week we will be working on our new friend, Catina Cat. Please continue to review vocabulary words with your child and keep on working on putting things "in" various containers.

Have a great week!

Allie Alligator Pouch

Today we worked on our Allie Alligator pouches. We filled Allie with some vocabulary cards of words we know that begin with the letter “a”. To make Allie we made a template of our own (we originally found Allie at : http://www.kinderbykim.com/september.htm).

If you want to make one of your own at home you’ll need:
1 8.5 x 11 green paper
2 yellow eyes
2 red nostrils
1 red mouth
1 set of white teeth
and some glitter for accent.

We used our fine motor skills to fold the paper in ½ and glue the pre cut pieces.

Please practice these vocabulary words with your child at home. Some concepts you can practice would be in and out. (eg. Put the apple in Allie).

Have a great day!

PS if you’d like a copy of the template you can email me at mrs.tammyatou@gmail.com or click the jpeg image below.

Allie Alligator

Today we worked on making our Allie Alligator clips. We started off by reading a story called See You Later Alligator. Then we worked on our alligator clips. It took a lot of time painting and gluing, and well a lot of mess was required! We used a clothespin, 2 pieces of pipe cleaner, a straw, googey eyes, and a marker to draw in his tongue. Here's the finished project. We hope you like it!

Welcome!

Hi Families!
Welcome to our 2012-2013 school year! We're looking forward to getting to know you all throughout this school year.
This year we will be continuing with our Zoo-Phonics program to introduce letters and letter sounds. As we follow along with this curriculum we'll be introducing new letters each week with a new animal. Over the first 2 weeks we will be learning all about our friends and introducing Allie Alligator.
I hope you all enjoy the projects that your child will be bringing home this year.

Please feel free to call me at school at 832-3500 or email me at mrs.tammyatou@gmail.com
